Registered Apprenticeship Program (IRA)

ABC Pelican offers a Registered Apprenticeship Program for several occupations approved by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship. Our Registered Apprenticeship Program can help our member companies develop their people and win work that the requires registered apprentices, such as clean energy projects receiving tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Current Registered Apprenticeship Occupations

  • Form builder carpenter

  • Electrical

  • Pipefitting

  • Construction Craft Laborer

  • Welder

  • Iron Worker

  • Boilermaker

  • Operating Engineer (Heavy Equipment Operator)

  • Pipe Converter & Insulator

First Steps:

  • Be an active ABC Pelican member in good standing.

  • Contact Danielle Labbe at the Baton Rouge Training Center to discuss crafts identified for apprenticeship and expected start of project/apprenticeship.

  • Review and sign employer agreement:

    • Agree to follow ABC Pelican apprenticeship policies and procedures.

    • Agree to comply with wage schedule outlined in apprenticeship standards.

    • Agree to comply with ratio of journey-level employees to apprentice (1:1)

How to Get Started with the Apprenticeship Program

Once Apprenticeship Begins:

  • Each apprentice completes apprenticeship agreement and ABC Pelican training application and submits to the ABC Pelican Training Center.

  • ABC Pelican issues invoice for $2,500 per apprentice enrolled (annual cost).

Ongoing Process:

  • On-the-job training (OJL) tracking - submitted via email to apprentice@abcpelican.com (submitted monthly for each current apprentice).

  • Wage increase notifications submitted via email to apprentice@abcpelican.com

  • Apprentice attends training and ABC Pelican and attendance is tracked.

  • Employer notifies ABC Pelican via email of apprentice termination or resignation.
